F. Scott Fitzgerald once said of falling in love, "There are all kinds of love in this world but never the same love twice." It's true: each love we have is different. From your first love to your last love, each one was right for that time. It's a fickle thing; love is a feeling that demands to be felt, no matter the circumstances we're in at the time. In our lifetime, we will meet all sorts of people and go on dozens of dates until we finally meet the one we're destined to be with, but we will only fall in love four different times:
For everything we do there is a first. Our first word, first day of school and most importantly our first love. The first love is the idealistic love. It's the one we've dreamed of our whole lives up till this point. The first time we ever fall in love is the stuff fairy tales are supposed to be made out of. It's supposed to be enchanting, the love that's full of magic and all we've ever imagined it would be. For a while it is. Then we fall out of love.
This love is the one we remember the most. The first love is the one who showed us what it's like to be loved. The first love made love magical, but it is never supposed to last - they're there to show us how.
Some lucky few fall and stay in love with their first, but for the rest of us, that's not the case. Our first love taught us how to love. That doesn't mean it wasn't ever right - someone at some point in our life would have come along to fill the role of the first love. The first love ushers in the journey to find our last.
The unrequited love
There will always be the one who could never love us back. The unrequited love is the love our hearts thought they wanted most, but could never be reciprocated. It's the one that hurts the most. Our minds think of the possibilities, none of which will ever happen.
Unrequited love doesn't only happen once. It can happen multiple times in our life. . There always be people who can never love us back. You have probably been that person for someone else.
Unrequited love is often met with despair. When we finally realize our feelings aren't reciprocated, our hearts break. Then we can heal and move on toward finding a better love.
The hard love is the one that seems impossible to get over. Love is made up of moments that define us, and it's with the hard love that we question who we are and all we've ever known. We learn more about ourselves and who we are with this love than with anyone else. The hard love is the one who teaches us what kind of person we really want in a relationship.
The hard love is the one who always comes back to, even when we know we shouldn't. In some ways the hard love is the rebound, the one who can never love us fully and the one who is right but not at the same time. While it's the one we always come back to, the hard love is the one we need to get over, but don't know how to.
With a good amount of faith and perseverance, we can fall out of love with the hard love and move on with our lives. Only then will we be able to seek out the one we really want.
When it comes to love, life will one day introduce us to the person we never saw coming. We have never known love until we meet "the one." This is the one who will treat us the way we want and should be treated. It's the love we don't see coming that makes all other loves we've had in life insignificant. This is the love who is good for us, who will turn the dark days into bright ones, who will show us things about love and life we've never known before.
Such love is the kind that lasts.
This will be the love we will never let go.The one we will say "I do" to for the first and last time. They will be the one we never saw coming and the one who will stay with us until the end.
We all deserve this love. It comes quick for some, slow for others, but it's the one we know we can count on. We will fall in love many times in life, with these four different types of people. Each one is right for a certain time of our lives, but most importantly, we must love the journey. Love and life are a journeys full of surprises. Once we find the ultimate surprise, the one we never saw coming, we will fall a little bit more in love each day.
