You didn't ask for a brother, but you've got one anyway. Sometimes he can be the meanest person you know. Other times, he's your best friend. If you have a brother you can call your best friend, then you know firsthand these 15 things:
1. He is your number one fan
Your brother supports in you everything that you do. He'll be there for every performance, sports event or momentous occasion and he will make it very clear how proud he is of you. He will always be there to support you no matter what.
2. He loves to tease you
Seeing the smile on your face makes him happy. Teasing you is just the method of his madness. He may be a little irritating at times, but in the end he's still your best friend.
3. He knows he can talk about serious things with you
Unlike with his friends, he knows he can come to you to talk about anything. The same goes for you. You both are willing to listen and give advice when it's needed.
With a little sibling rivalry comes playful teasing. If there's anyone you love playing jokes on, it's your brother. And he loves playing jokes or pranks on you because you both know the other can take it. These games can go on for years, but that's what makes it fun.
6. He is full of surprises
Sometimes you may wonder if he cares about you as much as you care about him. There are times when he will surprise you with gifts, some that he's put a lot of thought into. The best surprises though, are the ones where he says or does things that make you realize how much he loves you, perhaps even more than you do.
7. You value the time you spend together
Whether it's watching a movie, sitting on the couch and talking, riding bikes in the neighborhood or catching Pokémon, you value the time you spend together. You make time out of your day to see him and to spend time with him. These moments are memories that you will keep forever.
8. He gives the best hugs
There's nothing better than a warm bear hug from your brother. There's something about his embrace that makes you feel safe and secure. No one gives better hugs than he does.
9. You don't have to say anything to know you love each other
The two of you may never outwardly acknowledge that you love each other or are best friends, but you don't even need to say it - you just know.
10. You count down the days until you can see him again
If it's been a long time since you've seen your brother, as soon as you're reunited it's like no time has passed at all. You fit right back into the swing of things. You miss being away from him and love being in his company.
11. He won't let you do anything stupid
Okay, maybe sometimes he will. But he'll only let you do something stupid if it gives him an opportunity to tease you about it. He will, however, stop you from doing something really stupid. You would do the same for him. You trust him more than anyone else (for the most part).
12. You two could take over the world
When you and your brother are together, you two could conquer the world. No one gets in the way of what you love to do. You will both strive to be your best selves and encourage each other to accomplish your goals.
13. You bond over the strangest things
It could be anything from your favorite TV show to how geysers are formed at Yellowstone, but you love bonding over weird things. You both love learning from each other and experiencing things together. Strange things only bring you closer.
14. No other guy could break the bond between you
One day you'll both find love and get married and live happily ever after - but that will never sever the bond between you and your brother. You've known each other since birth and no one can drive a wedge between you. Of course your brother will love the man you marry, because he wouldn't let you marry someone he didn't approve of.
Life without your brother isn't a life at all. You can't imagine a world where he isn't there to tease you or support you. Your brother is the light in your life and you are the light in his. Having your brother around is the best thing you could ever ask for.
