2.Don't use shampoo every time you shower...use conditioner

Shampoo washes away the built up dirt whereas conditioner replaces the lipids and proteins inside, creating additional strength. Your hair needs as little damage as possible in order for it to grow longer and look healthier. Sealing the cuticle with conditioner helps prevent damage and gives your hair the moisture and protein it needs.
3. Only brush when absolutely necessary
If you do not need to brush your hair, don't. The more you brush your hair, the more physical harm you can cause to it. If you have tangles, start from the bottom and work your way up. This can help limit the amount of large knots you create which may lessen the amount of hair you yank out.
The food you eat makes a huge difference as to whether your hair will grow at a healthy rate. Your hair needs strength in order to grow, hence the extra urge to eat more protein.
5. Volumize hair to enhance circulation

Sleep on a silk pillowcase with your hair down for healthier hair. Sleeping in a braid or ponytail makes your hair more prone to breakage. Also, when you sleep with a cotton pillow case, your hair rubs on the fabric causing unwanted irritation and breakage.
Ponytails look fabulous on you, but wearing them in the same place day after day is causing breakage. Mix it up a bit and put your ponytail in a different place tomorrow. This will allow the strands of your hair to keep growing strong without the daily stress of the same old hair style.
8. Use cold water instead of hot
Heat damages hair. That is a fact most women understand. While hot showers do not damage your hair, the outer layer of hair can better maintain moisture if you shower with cold water. Don't worry, you don't have to freeze; just have a quick and cold rinse at the end of your shower.
Blood flow increases when you have a massage, especially on your head. Adding a light oil treatment along with a little massage is a great way to deep condition your scalp. The added moisture helps fill the hair strands with the fatty acids it needs to grow long.
1 cup unrefined coconut oil
1 tablespoon almond oil
1 tablespoon macadamia oil
1 tablespoon jojoba oil
Mix and distribute evenly on your hair for several hours. Rinse well, and repeat regularly.
