Before throwing in the towel or saying "no" when all you really want to do is scream "yes", stop and think about what is holding you back. Why are you unhappy?
I have noticed in my own life that when I do not feel very happy with where my life is at, it is because my relationship with God is deteriorating. I get so caught up with what I wanted and how I was going to get it on my own that I neglected to keep God a part of my goals.
When life's stumbling blocks keep falling in your way and all you want to do is give up, don't. Ask yourself these five questions instead.
Have I accepted the challenges I must endure to receive blessings?
We all want the blessings and a sense of accomplishment after we overcome a trial, but how often do we ask God for that trial?
As you search for a reason behind your weaknesses or current trials, think about whether or not you have accepted your challenge. In order to receive blessings, you need to accept your weaknesses and accept your trial. If you haven't done this, you will dread every waking hour of your hardship.
Have I given God any control?
Who is leading your life? If you believe in God and know that he has a plan for you individually, then let him lead you down the right path. He knows what is going to make you happiest so let him take the wheel.
Is my faith moving me forward?
Knowing your purpose and believing in something or someone can be what moves you to keep going. "But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind"- James 1:6.
It is not just about having faith. Anyone can believe in something with his or her whole heart. The real question is, what are you doing with your faith? How are you letting it drive your life?
Is my heart my enemy?
Our feelings often take precedent over what our mind is telling us. If your heart is not in the right place, and the desire isn't there, then your heart is slowly becoming your worst enemy. Fully trusting your heart mixes emotions with the next steps needed to take to conquer your goal.
Keep your heart open, but don't forget the logistics behind your decisions.
"Treat others the way you would like to be treated." What your mother taught you when you were little should be as true now as an adult as it was when you were five years old.
If what you are seeking is honesty, share your feelings and open up to others first in order to create trust. This will allow them to feel comfortable doing the same to you. One of the greatest ways to be treated the way you want is to treat others with that same respect.
Don't quit; become the kind of person who you can be proud of.
