How to find happiness in a monotonous life

Life can become dull when we endure a monotonous routine day after day. And after some time, it becomes hard to wake up each morning because we don’t have anything to look forward to. But, we can still find happiness in our daily "routine" life.

But, we can still find happiness in our daily life. August is Happiness Happens Month. During this month, make it a goal to find happiness in your daily life. Here are five ways you can spice up your daily routine and be happy.

  • 1. Make a plan

  • Before you go to bed each night, create a plan for the upcoming day. Create a to-do list and a list of your top priorities. When you know what you are going to do each day, you will not feel as discouraged and frustrated. You become more productive and are less apt to be stressed and angry. Plus, creating a plan for the next day is a quick task. It takes just a few minutes of your time and by planning carefully, you can find more time in your day for yourself and others.

  • 2. Spend time with those you care about

  • Spending time with people you care about is one of the fastest ways to be happy. Yes, some days your spouse, children and even extended family members can make you mad and frustrated, but when you look for the blessings they bring into your life, you will not want to be with anyone else. As you plan out your day, set time aside for your family and friends. Just a little bit of time with them can make a big difference in your disposition.

  • 3. Make time for you

  • Make yourself a priority. Take time each day to do the things you love to do. Children and your other obligations take a lot of time and energy. However, when you don’t make yourself a priority, you become bogged down with chores and work tasks that can quickly burn you out. You are most happy when you feel good about yourself and you have the energy to get up and get going. Whether it is going to the spa, doing a craft or just reading a book, take time for you. You are the most important when it comes to making your own happiness happen.

  • As we go through life, things change. People in our lives come and go. Children grow up and their interests change as they get older. We will experience a variety of jobs and work projects. We may even live in different cities or homes. As change happens, don't let it affect your attitude and your happiness. We must accept the change that comes into our lives. When we are more accepting, we tend to keep a happier outlook on life and don’t become beat up by the small things.

  • 5. Focus on your attitude

  • Your attitude can make all the difference when finding happiness in your daily life. When you wake up each morning with a smile on your face and a positive attitude, you will attract others to you and find that there is much in life to be grateful for. But, when you have a negative view, you will find yourself much more discouraged, stressed and frustrated. Focus on your attitude each day. Wake up each morning and put a smile on your face, even if you don’t feel like it.

  • Happiness can be found in the daily tasks that you perform each day. By applying the above suggestions into your daily routine, life may be a little more enjoyable each day.
