Sometimes you just need a nap

  • A lack of sleep isn't good for anyone.

  • Just take a look at this brother and sister. First, we see an obviously cranky and crying sister. Big brother asks, "Did you have a nap today?" She shakes her head no and says, "I didn't!"

  • He knowingly responds, "But, you need one." She cries some more and answers back, "No I don't!"

  • Score: Big brother = 1, little sister = 0.

  • This is obviously pretty funny since it did win a prize on America's Funniest Home Videos. But, it is a great depiction of knowing the signs of when you need a nap.

  • As adults, we probably don't cry when we're tired, though we may want to. More likely, we become agitated, annoyed or less patient when we need a nap. It doesn't have to be long, in fact, 20-30 minutes is best.

  • There are some other benefits to napping. According to the National Sleep Foundation, napping can restore and increase alertness, improve performance and provide relaxation as a psychological benefit. However, too long of a nap can cause you to feel groggy so be careful not to overindulge.
