It seems family, friends and even strangers are never short on words when it comes to giving unsolicited advice to expectant or new parents—most of which you'll likely want to ignore.

As one dad in the video said, "Ignore 90% of it. It's worthless. Here is some good advice." Advice comes from all different backgrounds and experiences. Only you will know what is best for you and your little one. Some may judge you for it while others will completely agree with you.

In reverse order, here are what new and seasoned parents had to offer.

  1. Do what works for you. Beware of Google because there are so many opinions out there and most are not based on facts or research.

  2. Get on a schedule. (Or don't, because sometimes that doesn't work either.)

  3. Take time for yourself. Exercise, take a nap, rely on new grandparents, etc. And make sure you take time for date night with your spouse.

  4. Babies come with their own personality. Get to know them instead of squashing them into some pre-formed mold or expectation.

  5. Be ready for the unexpected; it will happen.

  6. Babies may be small, but their accessories take up a lot of space. Be ready to sacrifice that guest bedroom.

  7. Everyone says time flies or they grow up so fast. Take pictures and enjoy the moments. In 20 years, it will all be memories.

  8. Be grateful for your kids.

  9. Don't be hard on yourself. You will make mistakes. And the mountains of laundry and dishes? They can wait.

  10. Love. You never imagined how much you could love someone until you become a parent. It's an amazing unbreakable bond between two hearts.

No matter how you decide to parent, if you are doing the best you can, that's all that matters. There's not really a right or wrong way to love, nurture, protect and care for your child. Advice will still come, but only try it if it feels good to you.

A baby changes your life in so many ways—physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. In fact, it's hard to even remember life before baby came along, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

"Just relax. You're gonna be great hopefully." (Sorry, that last line was too hilarious to leave out!)
